The Office of Research Integrity and Compliance (ORIC)

Mission Statement

The mission of The Office of Research Integrity and Compliance (ORIC) is to promote the ethical conduct of research. ORIC serves the UTSA research community by providing independent oversight in coordinating institution-wide research compliance policy, procedures and training through partnering with researchers. ORIC works with researchers to navigate the complex maze of federal, state, and local regulations that impact research undertaken at academic institutions. ORIC facilitates research integrity in the following areas: the use of humans and animals in research, biosafety, time and effort reporting, conflict of interest in Research & Intellectual Property, export controls, and the responsible conduct of research.

  • IRB Help Lab
  • The Institutional Review Board (IRB) is offering help sessions every Tuesday & Wednesday from 3:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. at Room 4.01.84 in the Multidisciplinary Building. Bring in an electronic copy of any materials with which you need assistance. Get the answers to all your IRB questions.

  • Export Controls FYI Information Sessions
  • The Office of Research Integrity and Compliance will be holding Export Controls FYI information sessions on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 from 1:30 - 4:00 p.m. in BSE 2.102 Multi-Purpose Room. The three back-to-back sessions will cover the following topics:

    Session 1 - Basic overview of Export Control regulations
    Session 2 - How Export Controls have impacted procedures for transactions which involve foreign travel, vendors or guests
    Session 3 - How Export Control regulations impact research at UTSA

    The sessions are open to all UTSA faculty, staff and students and participants are welcome to attend any or all of the sessions. RSVP to vprweb@utsa.edu is appreciated but not required.

    Additional FYI sessions on Export Controls and other Research Compliance topics will be scheduled throughout the Fall semester. Call ORIC at x6767 or x4601 with any questions.

  • Conflict of Interest in Research and Intellectual Property FYI Information Sessions
  • The Office of Research Integrity and Compliance will be holding Conflict of Interest in Research and Intellectual Property FYI information sessions on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 from 1:30 - 4:15 p.m. in UC 2.01.34 Hawthorne Room (1604 Campus) and on Thursday, August 14, 2008 from 1:00pm - 3:35pm in the Buena Vista Bldg. 4.304.A (Downtown Campus).

    The sessions are open to all UTSA faculty, staff and students and participants are welcome to attend any or all of the sessions. RSVP to vprweb@utsa.edu is appreciated but not required.
