What's New

  • Multidisciplinary Proposal Development Team Created
  • To assist UTSA faculty and expand the number and scope of large, multidisciplinary research proposals the Vice President of Research has created a Multidisciplinary Proposal Development team.

The multidisciplinary proposal development team works in partnership with faculty to provide support for the early stages of program and proposal development of multi and interdisciplinary team science projects. This unit focuses on strategic, catalytic, and capacity building research development activities. The Office for Sponsored Programs (OSP) is responsible for overall research administration for the entire University. OSP is involved in the general process of proposal submission, negotiating agreements, accepting and appropriating awards, interpreting guidelines and promoting compliance with sponsor and University policies. The Multidisciplinary team and OSP work together to best serve the faculty when they are developing these large complex proposals.

  • San Antonio Life Sciences Institute announces availability of grant funds!
  • We are pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted under the San Antonio Life Sciences Institute (SALSI) Research Enhancement Fund and Innovative Education Initiative grant programs.

Authorized by the 77th Texas Legislature in 2003, UTHSCSA and UTSA formed SALSI to promote greater scientific collaboration between the two institutions and to increase both institutions' funding base through cross campus collaborative programs. Support of SALSI for the 2010-2011 biennium was provided by the Texas Legislature using American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funding.

Under the Research Enhancement Fund, collaborative research grants in the life sciences will be funded. Target areas include, but are not exclusive to, biomedical engineering, health disparities, medicinal chemistry, and neurosciences. Funds have also been set aside for innovative non-research programs, including joint educational efforts.

Projects must be collaborations between at least one faculty member from both UTSA and UTHSCSA. Proposals that include collaborations beyond those of UTSA and UTHSCSA are encouraged.

The deadline date for the next round of proposals is February 1, 2010. For more information, please visit the SALSI website at http://www.UTSalsi.org.
